English Literature ‘O’ Level Programme
Secondary 1 to Secondary 4
What is the English Literature ‘O’ Level Programme?
The Literature syllabus raises awareness of the range of perspectives that human beings – separated by time, space and culture – are capable of developing. This increased awareness promotes empathy and global awareness. Students become cognisant of and reassess their own values, beliefs and biases. The habit of close reading promotes deep and heightened sensitivity towards language, helping students to appreciate the nuances and layers of meaning in texts around them.
Students develop metacognitive habits of mind as they constantly pay attention to the impact of language on thoughts and feelings, and are sensitive to the places in a text that call for deeper reflection and processing. Their minds are trained to acknowledge and consider multiple perspectives, even as they learn to convince others of their interpretations. At the same time, students develop a greater acceptance for ambiguity and open-endedness.

During an Online Video Lesson:
- In-depth analysis of a topic by a Curio coach
- Addressing of various question types commonly seen in tests & exams
- Practice, practice, practice
During the Week:
By the end of a session, students will have the answers to the questions posed during the online lesson, as well as a selection of questions to continue practising throughout the week. Students can hand in their answers at any time via their Google classrooms. Additional practices will be graded and returned before the following week’s lesson.

Powered by the Sapience Method
The Well Educated Mind is the aspiration that prompted the development of the Sapience Method. The Well Educated Mind is not one that merely retains plenty of learning. On the contrary, it is one that continually seeks wisdom, recognising that a real education consists of a sustained thirst for knowledge. Knowledge that seeks to both empower and inspire.
The Sapience Method utilises adaptive teaching to personalise your learning journey. This allows you to:
Learn based on your own learning speed | Understand exactly how your brain acquires knowledge |
Melt stress away – learning should never involve struggle | Work on your strengths too, and not just your weaknesses |
